You need pure dedication and hardwork to achieve it, as it is a big achievement to acquire a driving license in Abu Dhabi or any other emirates in UAE. The process and procedures might differ in each emirates as they all have there own rules and regulations, but the base will be pretty much the same.
1) I have opened my driving license file? What are the next procedures?
Ans: As soon as you open the file, you can book a date for theory classes. It is mandatory for every one to sit for 4 day theory class.
2) Can i choose my own date for theory class?
Ans : You can choose the date for driving theory class depending on the availability of seat. Each class has limited seats. So you can tell the date and they will tell you if its available or not. If there is space they could give that date. But as there is a huge number of applicants for driving license, it would take at least one week to get yours
3) How many day will be the theory class for driving license?
Ans : Theory class will be 4 days depending upon the timing you choose, Basically there will be eight lessons and each lesson will be a two hour session
4) What will they be teaching in the theory class?
Ans : There will be eight lessons which you have to complete. Each lesson would take 2 hours to finish.
Lesson 1 - Traffic rules, Road Markings and Road traffic signs
Lesson 2 - Inside city limit
Lesson 3 - Outside city limit
Lesson 4 - Driving under difficult condition
Lesson 5 - Some critical situation
Lesson 6 - Driving behaviour and human road manners
Lesson 7 - The car and basic elements
Lesson 8 - Safety while driving
5) What should i do to learn more than i listened in the theory class?
Ans: when you book yours theory class, they will provide you a Emirates Driving Handbook where you can read and understand more about it. The book will be in English language with coloured pictures.
6) I dont know how to read english ? What should i do for the theory class?
Ans : Theory classes are available in different regional languages. Do enquire the counter before you register for the theory class. Arabic, Malayalam , Urdu are some of the other languages available other than English for the theory class.
7) I cannot sit for the theory class as i am very busy at work and i dont get leave ? What should i do?
Ans : Its mandatory to sit for the theory class if you want to apply for driving license. Classes are available from morning 6 am till night 10 pm and even further. Kindly enquire that before registering for theory class and find a convenient time accordingly.
8) I sit for the theory class, But i didnt understand anything ? What should i do?
Ans : First of all, The things they teach in theory class are just general road stuffs, like sign boards and rules and things we have to do while driving. Be dedicated and sit in class in a positive attitude, as if you want to understand how we driving in this country. The lecturers are always happy to help us, if there is any questions. If you still don't understand, you can always go home and read the handbook and understand the pictures shown in it.
9) I missed one of the session ? Can i rebook?
Ans : Yes, if you have missed a session, you can always rebook for another date for free. You can also change the date of session later.
10 ) How will be the theory exam for getting a driving license in Abu Dhabi ?
Ans : Theory exams will be objective type. ie, Each questions will have 3 options and you choose one of the option as the answer. Depending on the language you selected for theory class , The exam pattern will be different, as i came to know, Arabic and English exams are done in computers while Malayalam will be done using a pen and paper
11) I have chosen Malayalam for theory exam? So will the question be in Malayalam?
And : No, The questions will be in English, But there will be someone who will translate it to Malayalam for you.
12) I have failed in the theory driving license exam? What will i do next ?
Ans : If you have failed in the theory driving license exam, you can rebook again for a theory class with the a fee which will be around 200AED which you have lost your marks. Its mandatory to sit for failed theory classes again if you have failed for the exam. ie, If you have more wrong answers from lesson 3 and 4, then you need to sit for only 3 and 4 theory class.
13) After resiting for the theory class? What is the next procedure?
Ans : After you have completed the theory class, you can again book for a exam date.
14) I failed twice for theory driving license exam? Whats next ?
Ans : You will get three chances, ie, each time you fail, you have to sit for the theory class again and also give the fee accordingly, When you fail three times, next the exam will be oral where a representative from emirates driving company will do an oral exam with you
15) I passed the theory driving license exam? Whats next ?
Ans : After you pass the theory driving license exam, you can proceed according to your application.
ie,
If you have a license from your home country (depends on the country), you will get one free chance for practical exam. Where you can go directly and book for a date for practical driving license exam as soon as you pass your theory driving license exam.
If you don't have a home country license, You have to book for a practical class, were a coach from Emirates Driving company will teach you how to drive. If you know driving, then there will be an evaluation session, where they will evaluate your driving skill and assign classes accordingly
